Sons not Slaves

The truth is: we have a choice. Whether we are struggling with compulsive masturbation, internet porn, visiting Adult shops, meeting up for casual sex encounters, explicit conversations etc. Are we going to live out of the ‘guilty little boy’ (the school boy who snatches an Adult magazine and hurriedly flicks through the pages, looking for titillation. He knows what he is doing is wrong but he can’t stop himself!) or are we going to “ grow up into Christ”?? Ephesians 4:15 NET. Are we going to put aside our old self with all its sinful desires and be daily renewed by the infilling of the Holy Spirit... Ephesians 4:22 for the sake of the gospel, for the sake of the kingdom, for the sake of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?? Brothers, the Lord Jesus is returning soon! We are living in the last days. What will the Lord of Hosts find when He returns? A pure, spotless Bride or a tarnished whore? Men who seek after Him with all of their hearts or children whose appetites are only for themselves and meeting their own needs?

Father God is calling us men to be His adopted Sons... because, brothers, that is what we are!! Sons not slaves. Let me say that again “Sons not slaves!” Sons that are secure in the Father’s love. When we step outside the boundaries that He has put in place for our safety, we become slaves again... Slaves that fear the retribution of their Master. The Word of God puts it very clearly in Romans 8:15 ESV “ You did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as Sons... ” When we become enslaved to sexual sin we become slaves again to fear. If you had said to me during those years I was enslaved “ Reuben, are you a Christian?” I would have said “Yes.” But if you had asked me would I go to heaven if I died that night... I would have to admit... I didn’t know. At the same time, I was terrified of dying. But when we take on the mantle of Sonship we walk in freedom; freedom from fear; free in the Holy Spirit... and with the assurance that we have been purchased by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are His forever!! What choice will we make today- to walk the way of the Cross as a faithful Son of the King? Or to give into the lusts of our eyes and cringe in shame before our Master?
